Adding a missing place or incorrect location tag on google maps
Purpose
To ensure that customer addresses are accurately represented on Google Maps, preventing logistical errors in service delivery and maintaining an accurate audit trail for location-based records.
Scope
This procedure applies to Scribe Accounts users (Clerks, RFOs, and Bookings Managers) who need to correct mapping data for venue booking locations.
Prerequisites
- A Google account (to track the status of the edit).
- A computer with a web browser or a mobile device with the Google Maps app.
- The exact physical location or coordinates of the correct site.
Procedure
On Mobile (Android, iPhone, & iPad)
- Open Google Maps and search for the specific place or tap the incorrect pin on the map.
- Pull up the place profile from the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Suggest an edit.
- Select Change name or other details.
- Tap the Map section (where the pin icon is shown).
- Drag the map until the red pin is centered exactly where the location should be.
- Tap Save and then Submit in the top right corner.
On a Computer (Desktop)
- Go to Google Maps.
- Search for the location or click on the existing pin.
- On the left-hand information panel, scroll down and click Suggest an edit.
- Click Change name or other details.
- Click on the Map icon to open the "Edit location" window.
- Drag the pin to the correct spot.
- Click Done, then click Send.
Troubleshooting / Common Issues
