How to adjust asset locations
Fine-tune asset positions when GPS is not precise
Check and adjust asset positions on the map before running AI detection. This ensures assets appear in the right place and reduces errors.
Who is this for?
-
Role: Field leads, office staff
-
Platform: Web
-
When: Onboarding, after photo uploads
Before you start
-
Upload photos and confirm assets have been created.
-
Make sure your areas are already mapped and have their "Location Tag" field updated
Steps
-
Open the map view — choose a clear base layer.
-
Web: Switch between Ordnance Survey, satellite imagery, or other map layers for best visibility.
-
-
Identify misplaced assets — look for pins that appear slightly off.
-
Common in playgrounds, memorial gardens, and areas with trees or buildings nearby.
-
-
Drag and drop assets — move each pin to its correct spot.
-
Focus on logical arrangement, not centimetre precision.
-
-
Check clusters carefully — especially for playground equipment or multiple bins close together.
-
Save changes — confirm before leaving the map view.
-
Finish — assets now sit in the right locations, ready for AI auto-detection.
Notes & limits
-
GPS accuracy varies by phone model, weather, and nearby structures.
-
Manual adjustments are normal — always budget time for them.
-
If an asset falls in two overlapping areas, it will be assigned to the smallest area footprint.
Verify it worked
-
Refresh the map and confirm assets appear in logical positions.
